Our charming riverside pub on Ferry Road in Hanham Mills, South Gloucestershire, is the perfect place to slow down and soak up the season. Nestled on the scenic banks of the River Avon, we offer a traditional British welcome and a cosy escape from the chill.

Women's Rugby World Cup
The Women’s Rugby World Cup is here, and we’ll be showing every match down by the river. Settle in at The Chequers with a pint in hand, tasty food on the table, and a laid-back atmosphere that’s perfect for cheering on the Red Roses. Whether you’re here for the full 80 minutes or just drifting by to catch the big moments, it’s the ideal spot to enjoy the tournament.
Charity Barrel Walk
On Thursday 18th September, our Young’s team will be walking 14.7 miles from Bath Brew House to King Street Brew House – but we won’t be going empty-handed. We’ll be transporting a barrel of Young’s beer the whole way, delivering it to be tapped at the finish line.
Why? We’re raising money for Maddy’s Mark, a charity dedicated to supporting the mental well-being of girls and young women through the power of sport. In partnership with Wooden Spoon, rugby’s children’s charity, Maddy’s Mark funds school programmes and club partnerships that build confidence, resilience, and community – all inspired by the incredible spirit of Maddy Lawrence.
Maddy was brave, passionate, and full of life. Help us honour her legacy by supporting this amazing cause. Whether you’re giving a little or a lot, your donation makes a difference.

Nestled right on the river, we’re a favourite stop for walkers exploring the trails on our doorstep, with plenty of space inside to relax and refuel.

For us, Sunday roasts are sacred (in fact, we’d go as far as to say they’re probably the best in the world). Think succulent cuts of slow-roasted West-Country beef, larger-than-life Yorkies, and boatloads of the chef’s proper gravy.
